The construction of the Pyalong First Station was a well-coordinated and technically detailed project, designed to deliver a durable, functional, and community-focused facility in a regional setting. From initial site establishment through to final commissioning, the works were carefully staged to manage access, safety, and sequencing in line with both project and environmental requirements.

Siteworks commenced with bulk earthworks and detailed excavation to establish appropriate levels and subgrades. Given the absence of town sewer infrastructure, a major component of the works was the installation of a compliant septic system. This included a custom-designed septic tank, holding tanks and absorption garden beds sized to service both the building’s everyday use and potential peak demand during emergency operations.

The building itself was constructed using a structural steel frame with concrete slab-on-ground to the motor room and a raised posi-joist timber floor for the offices and multipurpose room, providing strength, stability, and longevity. Lightweight metal cladding and Colorbond roofing were selected for their durability, fire resistance, and low maintenance properties. Internal framing, linings, and finishes were chosen to withstand high-traffic use, while also allowing for ease of cleaning and future adaptability.

External works included concrete aprons, gravel rubble pits, drainage, and native landscaping. Despite the regional location and supply chain challenges, materials and trades were coordinated effectively to maintain program and budget.
